Breastfeeding Resources

I am no expert on breastfeeding, simply a mom who had a rough time and likes to write things down.

In that spirit, here is a list of my favorite breastfeeding resources and tools. 🙂

KellyMom.com – Hands-down the best, science-based advice about breastfeeding, plus an amazingly supportive community. Kelly will also answer tricky questions if you email her, but it may take some time, as she’s busy saving the breastfeeding world.

Freemies – a hands-free collection cup that fits into your bra, allowing you to use your hands, pump one side while nursing your baby, and even pump with others in the room. These made pumping some more pleasant. www.freemie.com/

Badass Breastfeeders – these are locally-organized groups of moms who are all about breastfeeding, and who can offer support, advice, and answers to all of your breastfeeding questions. Go to facebook.com and search for Badass Breastfeeders of YourTown. If you don’t have one, Denver is an awesome chapter to join.

A Lactation Consultant – I got one for free through my hospital, but if you don’t have access, contact Le Leche League at www.llli.org.

Mother Food – This book brings together science and tradition, giving you a complete overview of how diet impacts mothers and kids. Packed with recipes and interesting facts, this has yet to leave my bedside table. Mother Food: A Breastfeeding Diet Guide with Lactogenic Foods and Herbs – Build Milk Supply, Boost Immunity, Lift Depression, Detox, Lose Weight, Optimize a Baby’s IQ, and Reduce Colic and Allergies on Amazon.
